No More Dead Corners In The Living Room! To Fill The Void

7:35 PM

Dark, bare, just a waste of space - unused niches make you perplexed? Try these ideas for empty corners!
Your living room is so cozy - if it were not for this one sad empty corner. The place next to the couch, the fireplace or in the corner of the room seems predestined to be an eternal void. But how can you decorate dead corners or use them practically? From built-in shelves to wallpapers we have put together some good ideas for dead corners and unused niches in the living room!
1. Setting up a reading
corner Dead corners near the window are great as reading corners. A chair or comfortable chair fills in the gap. If the corner is not close to the window, there is still a floor lamp as reading light in the corner. A small side table serves as a practical storage and animates the empty angle even better.
2. Place side tables
Speaking of side table: This is ideal for unused areas next to the couch. Symmetrically placed on both sides, small tables cut a fine figure and bridge the square to the next wall or the next larger piece of furniture. There are also reading lights, remote control or drinks.
3. Setting up a workplace in the dead-end corner
In dead corners in the living room - for example next to a cupboard - you can also set up a small workplace. Perfect fit for example with custom-made products. But even small folding tables or narrow stools can easily be placed in an unused corner, creating a homey, slightly hidden workspace. The side of the cabinet can also be explained as a memo board.
4. Installing shelves into the niche
Dead corners and niches in the living room can also be put to practical use with shelves - ideally when they fill the width and depth. Pictures, books or deco come into their own behind the sofa and are always at hand. Make sure that the shelves do not protrude too far, especially in the lower area - so that you do not hit your head when you get up.
5. Precise (corner) shelves
Shelves or cabinets are available in various widths and depths. With a bit of luck you will find furniture for the exact dimensions of the niche. This can easily be pushed into the dead corner and filled with books, decoration or other small stuff. Alternatively, tailor-made by the carpenter.
If you want to avoid square edges that are easily hit, you should reach for a shelf with a triangular base.
Built-in solutions integrated in the wall are even more elegant. Edges, niches and delivered floor areas through corner cabinets are a thing of the past.
6. Beautify corners with wallpapers
Who says that all free corners must be delivered with furniture or decoration? An original wallpaper brings something to look at the wall and spares the search for items to enhance especially narrow gaps.
7. Decorate walls with pictures
Dead corners or unused niches can also be embellished in the living room with a picture wall. The view then flits more often over the now very interesting area! 10 tips for hanging pictures >>>
8. Walls with mirrors
A fireplace gives the living room a homelike ambience - but is often responsible for empty niches. The British interior designers at L & C Company have covered the empty niches next to this chimney head in Great Britain with large mirror surfaces. The room looks bigger, the corner is decorated and the reflection of the daylight makes the whole room brighter.
9. Illuminate the dark corner
Room corners are usually shrouded in dark shades. But not with the right lighting. Beautiful lights bring them to life through atmospheric light and set cool accents. Low-hanging pendant or floor lamps are equally suitable.
